Ombudsman is a way to get back on track. In programs that partner with schools and struggling students to diagnose and treat academic paths on the decline, at-risk learners get the individualized, high-quality instruction they need to get back on track.
A strong emphasis on technology allows all students to be fully engaged in their individual programs. Using computers and a wide variety of software frees teachers to spend more time helping each student individually. Students receive immediate feedback and can progress at their own pace without fear of embarrassment over a wrong answer.
Currently, Ombudsman offers programs at more than 130 sites nationwide, serving over 8,800 students annually.
A tax deduction for medical expenses for the tuition paid to Ombudsman may be available. In accordance with IRS Regulations, a medical deduction is allowed for tuition costs when a school meets the definition of a “special school”?. The school’s curriculum must include programs designed to prepare individuals with professionally diagnosed learning difficulties for future normal education and/or living. For many of our students, Ombudsman meets this definition as its programs provide specialized education for students with professionally diagnosed learning difficulties. Because a portion or all of the tuition paid to Ombudsman may come from government-sponsored scholarships, only that portion of tuition in excess of government scholarship funding is available as a medical expense. Tax advisors should be consulted regarding the availability of this deduction.
