The University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE) and the Milken Family Foundation announced the winners of the 2013 Milken-Penn GSE Education Business Plan Competition (EBPC), held on May 7-8 on the Penn campus.
Autism Expressed (Michele McKeone/Philadelphia) garnered the Educational Services of America Prize for Innovation in the Fields of Special Education and At-Risk Students ($20,000)

Crisp County School System is partnering with Ombudsman Educational Services to open the Ombudsman Cordele Learning Center, which will offer a highly personalized, technology-rich blended learning program for 75 middle and high school students who have not been successful in traditional school programs, who are at risk of dropping out, have been expelled or who have dropped out and wish to return to earn their diploma.

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs will host the 2012 STAR Parent Conference and Resource Fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 at the Spectrum Center Tara Hills Campus in San Pablo, Calif. Families in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties who have young children on the autism spectrum are invited to attend and learn more about local services, treatment, advocacy and research.

Englewood Schools is partnering with Ombudsman Educational Services to open the Englewood Ombudsman Student Support Center. The center will offer an alternative route to a high school diploma for middle and high school students who have been expelled, are at risk of dropping out, or do not meet the requirements to attend Colorado's Finest Alternative High School (CFAHS). Space is available for 60 students in grades six-12 to attend the new center. Classes begin Aug. 11.
