Darrell Lewis Joins ESA as Director of Broach West

In his new role, Lewis will be responsible for leadership of the 300-student school, which provides highly personalized programs for children in grades 1-12 with learning disabilities.

In addition to Broach West, ESA operates 26 campuses in Florida under the names of Atlantis Academy, Broach Schools, Crossroads Schools and others. As the nation’s leading private provider of special, alternative and post-secondary educational programs, ESA owns and operates more than 100 schools and programs in 16 states.

Lewis brings nearly 22 years of professional experience in education, financial services and nonprofit youth foundations to his new position. Prior to joining ESA, he taught as a adjunct professor with the University of Phoenix. He also spent a year teaching at Winter Park Middle School and Edgewater High School, both in the Orlando area. Lewis was the founder of 24 Karat Youth Organization, a Southern California-based nonprofit that worked with at-risk children to promote opportunities through academics and athletics.

He also held positions in financial services for several organizations, including the University of Phoenix in Fountain Valley, Calif., AT&T Communications in Fern Park, Fla. and Cenlar Federal Savings Bank in Jacksonville, Fla.

An active volunteer, he has donated his time to several organizations focused on teenagers, at-risk youth and sports. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Florida State University in Tallahassee and a master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix in Fountain, Valley, Calif.

A native of Paterson, N.J., Lewis now resides in Starke, Fla.
